Tiny Umbrella
This is a tool that can sometimes be useful for getting iPhones out of restore mode among other things.
TinyUmbrella is a combination of two earlier tools, both of which were written by semaphore. It requires Java to be installed (Windows end users will need the 32-bit edition, no matter what OS architecture).

Gevey SIM card adapter directions
For those of you who are fortunate enough to have an iPhone 4 running version 4.3.5 or below, here are my Gevey instructions to help you get your iPhone unlocked:

1. Initially, switch off the iPhone 4. Put in the SIM card with the Gevey SIM adapter beneath it within the iPhone 4.
2. Following that switch on the unit. Once the iphone powers on a message will be offering you the choice to “Cancel” or “Accept”. Choose “Cancel”.

Jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad now available
iPhone 4S users can now Jailbreak their devices as long as... they have access to a Mac. So far the PC solution has not been published but we should see it any day now.
No unlock is available yet but hopefully will follow soon.

Unlocking iPhone 4 version 4.3.4
4.3.4 version is not supported by Jailbreakme.com and therefore requires an alternate method of Jailbreaking in order to add the furiousmod source. Again, it is possible to use the "Long Method" for programming your iPhone 4 version 4.3.4 in order to enable use of a Gevey SIM Card adapter.
Jailbreaking will require RedSn0w and the 4.3.4 ipsw file.

Unlocking iPhone 4 version 4.3.3
If you are fortunate enough to own an iPhone 4 running 4.3.3 you will have a much easier time using your phone on the GSM network of your choice. That is once the device has been Jailbroken. You can always use the long method described in my previous post but this will make using the device much easier.
Since 4.3.3 is more common than 4.3.4, I will describe this method first and the procedure for 4.3.4 in my next post. Please note that the following method is for 4.3.3 only. Using the wrong Jailbreak procedure can cause a lot of unexpected problems up to and including bricking your phone. That means that if you don't do things properly, your phone may end up nothing more than a paperweight. I make every attempt to describe the process accurately but am in no way responsible for any problems that you may experience. If this concerns you, stay with ATT and the Apple app store and you will be safe.
Jailbreaking your iPhone 4 version 4.3.3 can be accomplished in several different ways. The easiest and recommended method is opening Safari and navigating to www.jailbreakme.com You will obviously need a wifi connection to do this otherwise borrow an ATT customers SIM card so that you can get a data connection. Follow the prompts to install Cydia. That's it! How easy was that? After Cydia is installed you will need to add the furious mod source. Open Cydia and allow it to complete any updates. This should be automatic but if you see a red circle on the Cydia icon with a number inside of it then there are still updates to be performed. Open Cydia and select "Changes" from the bottom menu. Click on reload and then update.
Once your changes have updated click on "Manage>Sources>Edit>Add Source" then after the http//: type in cydia.furiousmod.com
Once you have done this install the furiousmod. Your phone will now recognize the Gevey SIM. All you have to do is reboot and click "Accept" when the welcome message shows up. To get the correct data settings for your carrier go to www.unlockit.co.nz
Tomorrow I will show you how to Jailbreak version 4.3.4 for use with a Gevey adapter.

How to Unlock your 4.3.5 iPhone 4
As of today 4.3.5 is the highest software version that can be unlocked on an iPhone 4. There is no way to unlock the iPhone 4S whatsoever as I said "as of today."
You will need to purchase a Gevey SIM Card adapter and follow the "Long Method" described below. Remember not to update the software on your iPhone 4 when you plug it into iTunes. This will make the Gevey SIM card adapter useless and you will have to wait for the next unlock solution to be released. This is not expected to happen for a long time so be careful what you click on if you use iTunes. Also, do not ever press the "Erase All Content and Settings" option. This will require your iPhone 4 to be plugged into iTunes and upgraded to the latest software version again rendering your Gevey useless.
If you would like to purchase a Gevey Ultra SIM card adapter that has been pre-tested, just drop me an e-mail at dave77er@yahoo.com and I will send you my ebay link. If you find one elsewhere, that's fine but beware. There are a lot of imitations out there and even the legit one's have about 5% defective rate. I test mine first before I sell them so that my customers won't have that problem.
Since there is only a "tethered" jailbreak available for 4.3.5 at the moment it really isn't worth using for most people. Perform the procedure below and your iPhone 4 will be unlocked within a couple of minutes. You only have to repeat the process if you power off the phone or the battery dies. In most cases turning airplane mode on doesn't seem to be a problem; once deactivated you should get signal again without needing to repeat the procedure:
Gevey Unlock "Long" Method
Turn off your iPhone 4
Insert trimmed SIM card with Gevey underneath.
Turn on the phone and wait for the "Welcome" message.
Click Cancel (This is counter intuitive.)
Click "Settings" then "Phone"
Scroll to the bottom and select "SIM Applications"
Click "Instructions" and follow them. See below.
Go to the phones dialer and wait until you can see one bar in the service indicator area. Do not proceed if it says "No Service" or you will have to start all over.
Once you see one bar dial 112. Wait two seconds and then end the call.
Go back into settings and select "Airplane Mode"
Wait until the "No SIM" message appears.
Deactivate airplane mode.
Now just wait and accept any messages that you see on the screen.
Next you should see "Searching" or two bars of signal strength. Keep waiting.
Next you should see that you are connected to your GSM carrier. If not, start over again.
