How does unlocking my iPhone affect the manufacturer’s warranty?

If you use the method advertised on this site then you have nothing to worry about. Our unlocking service is authorized by Apple and actually uses iTunes to complete the unlocking process. On the other hand, there are methods that you might choose to unlock your iPhone which will void your manufacturer’s warranty. Until recently there were few methods available for unlocking iPhones. The most popular ones were achieved by installing third party software or “jailbreaking” the device in order to circumvent the network lock. The other option was to use a “Turbo SIM” adapter which tricked the phone into thinking that it was connected to its native network. While both of these methods achieved the desired effect, they came with a few complications.

In the case of a jailbroken iPhone your warranty is immediately voided as soon as you perform the jailbreak operation. Apple licenses the software which can be used on its phones and by doing so protects the copyrights of both itself and parties who develop applications for the iPhone. Since jailbreaking theoretically allows one to obtain software without the owner’s consent or software which has not been tested and authorized by Apple, it is not allowed by the Apple Corporation. In addition to the ability to download applications without paying for them it is also possible to affect the performance of your iPhone by installing applications that do not function properly or conflict with other operations.

In the case of Turbo SIM adapters, there are often requirements such as following complicated steps to program the phone every time that it is powered off. The Turbo SIM card adapters work by fooling the phone into thinking that it has made contact with its native carrier during its wake up cycle. Once the phone is turned off ne must begin by repeating this programming again at power up. This can be time consuming and will also be required if the battery goes completely dead and in some cases it will be required for no apparent reason.

Another drawback to both of these latter methods is that upgrading your software will often result in the jailbreak being removed or the SIM card adapter no longer effective. By using the factory unlock method offered here you will never have to worry about software conflicts, problems caused by upgrading and last but not least this will not affect your warranty in any way. Not only that but it also adds value to your device in case you ever decide to sell it.

iPhone 4 unlocked

If you want to have your iPhone 4 unlocked then you may have a few options. It all depends on what software is installed on your phone. You can have your iPhone 4 unlocked with software as long as you are running a version which can be jailbroken. Currently anything above 5.1.1 cannot be jailbroken and will require a factory unlock. The good news is that unlocking your iPhone 4 using the factory method is not only easy but also very inexpensive. You can order your unlock from us for $19.99 and it will be processed within twenty-four hours. Often we can complete your unlock request within a few hours depending on the time of day that you submit your request.

Before you request a factory unlock for your iPhone 4 you must be certain that:
  •    Your IMEI is in fact locked to the AT&T network
  •    Your phone is has not been reported lost or stolen
  •     An insurance claim has not been filed against your phone
  •     The phones original owner does not owe money to AT&T

If you are not sure whether or not your iPhone is locked to the AT&T network you can email your IMEI to rickbcaol@gmail.com for verification. You will receive a response that confirms whether or not we can unlock your iPhone. There is no charge for this service.

If your iPhone 4 has been reported lost or stolen we cannot refund your unlocking fees so please be sure that you trust the person that you purchased the phone from. Carriers are now sharing a database of “blacklisted” cell phones. This means that if your phone has been blacklisted by AT&T then you will also be unable to use it with T-Mobile or any other US based GSM carrier.

If an insurance claim has been filed against your phone then it might be blacklisted. In this case the conditions in the preceding paragraph will apply to your phone.

While it is uncommon, there are situations where carriers may blacklist a cell phone due to a past due balance and/or a customer not fulfilling his contractual agreement. Please note that the process of blacklisting an IMEI may take several weeks. This means that even if your iPhone 4 is working with AT&T at the moment it may later be banned from all networks. Never buy a phone from someone that you don’t trust.

Gevey Ultra S SIM for CDMA iPhones

In order to unlock your Verizon or Sprint iPhone 4S you will need a SIM card adapter and it will be necessary to delete the phones native carrier bundles. Your phone must also be jailbroken so this will only work with iPhones running 5.1.1 or lower. Here is what you must do as shown in the videos below:

  1. Purchase a Gevey Ultra S SIM card adapter- Buy the real thing there are lots of counterfeits!
  2. Download iFunbox
  3. Jailbreak your iPhone using RedSn0w
  4. Connect to iFunbox and navigate to Raw File System>var>wireless>library and delete any white icons that contain "310"
  5. Next open the "System" folder and navigate to library>carrier bundles>iPhone and delete any folders named "Zeppelin" as well as any that say "Verizon" or "Sprint" depending on your carrier. Wait for the list to refresh and then look for any white icons that contain "310" again. These need to be deleted also.

Factory unlock your iPhone for T-Mobile

Now you can easily unlock your iPhone 4 as well as many other models. The best thing about it is that once you complete your factory unlock your phone will remain that way forever. This new method for unlocking iPhones applies to the 3GS, 4, 4S and iPhone 5 as long as the iPhone was originally on the AT&T network. There are factory unlocks available for other carriers but the prices and availability varies greatly. If you have an iPhone that is from a different carrier just submit your IMEI to this site and follow the activation process in the video after your unlock has been processed. .

A lot of the people that come here are looking for a way to unlock their iPhone for T-Mobile or one of its MVNOs. An MVNO is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator. That is a company which uses an existing network to sell their own brand name. An example of an MVNO for T-Mobile would be Simple Mobile or Solavei who have their own rate plans but ride on T-Mobile’s network. Most MVNOs are sell pre-paid service with no contract requirements but usually have the same quality as the network that they are reselling. One thing to consider when unlocking your iPhone for T-Mobile or one of its MVNOs is that you will need to jailbreak your iPhone in order to send and receive MMS or picture messages. Talk, text and your internet browser should work automatically although on occasion it will be necessary to input your data settings manually.

If you are trying to unlock your iPhone for international use then you are in the right place. You can still use the factory unlock option as this will allow your phone to accept any GSM SIM card. That is assuming the destination you will be traveling to offers service through a GSM wireless carrier. In most cases this will be the case as most of the world uses GSM or “Global Standard for Mobile” with a few rare exceptions. If you are trying to unlock your iPhone for use on Metro PCS or Cricket then you will need to find someone who can “Flash” the software on your iPhone. This only works with CDMA iPhones so yours must be branded for Verizon or Sprint as AT&T iPhones cannot run on a CDMA network.

iphone 4 camera specs

I want to discuss the iphone 4 camera specs on this page. While it is important to remember that there is much more to a camera than its number of megapixels, I am impressed by how well this camera performs. Apple has always done well in this department even before they figured out that adding a flash would be a good idea. In comparison to the 3gs, the iphone 4 specs are almost doubled in the megapixel category. Not only that but we can finally takes pictures in dimly lit areas. For those of you who just want the iphone 4 specs without my opinion here they are:
  • 5.0 megapixels
  • 29mm non-zoom lens
  • Shutter= 1/15-1/10055
  • ISO 80-1000
  • 2.8 max aperture
  • 3.5 inch LCD display viewfinder

Since I am a novice camera user I will summarize the iphone 4 camera as an easy to use point and shoot device. The pictures are impressive compared to other smart phone camera in the same category. I have used several other 3g devices which had cameras all the way up to 12 megapixels. While their numbers might score higher than the iphone 4 camera specs, either I wasn’t operating them properly or they just weren’t all that much better. Sure more megapixels might mean bigger pictures but I only need for them to be as big as my monitor. I’m not printing up life size photos from my cell phone so all of that space just seems wasted if you ask me.
It is also noteworthy to mention the iphone 4 video recording. While a lot of camera work well with still photos or videos, the iphone 4 camera performed well in both categories. The auto focus mechanism makes it easy to record even at close range. I had a fixed location about 18 inches away from the phone while I recorded video under fluorescent lighting and it turned out looking very nice. I know of at least one movie that was shot entirely on an iphone 4. Check out the Avengers preview below. Parts of this were filmed using an iphone 4 camera!

While one might think that a serious camera enthusiast wouldn’t dream of using a cell phone camera to produce professional images well, maybe they would after all. It’s hard to find fault with something that is so easy to use yet produces a high quality product. The only thing that I’m not super excited about is the front facing camera. While this isn’t the primary camera would it have really been so hard to use something decent? A .3 megapixel 640x480 VGA resolution toy is a bit disappointing to find in any Apple product. That makes facetime look worse than most webcams. I don’t expect a lot but .3 MP? Other than that it really is decent overall.

Another thing that is nice to know is that you can replace your lens cover easily if it becomes scratched. It is actually built into the rear panel of the phone. You can easily replace it yourself using just a screwdriver or pentalobe driver depending on how old your iphone 4 is.

Just remove the two screws at the bottom and slide the back panel upwards. Then install your new replacement back and you have a brand new camera lens. Remember that this does technically void your warranty if Apple finds out. If you strip the screws at the bottom or replace the back with a different color you can kiss your warranty goodbye. Then again if the back is all scratched up or broken then it is probably too late anyways.
